Drawing upon this talent, Software Engineering developed a powerful CAD program and class library for Microsoft Windows called Symmetrica. Its object oriented design enables our programmers to easily derive new custom CAD applications from the Symmetrica CAD engine. The Symmetrica engine can be molded to accommodate any specialized CAD application our customers might imagine. History

David H. Hoeft founded Software Engineering, Inc. in June of 1995. After more than 15 years developing core CAD system components, David Hoeft looked toward the future and saw dynamic objects as the ideal model for CAD. Industries needed CAD applications focused on what they do; for example, pipe and fitting objects can be far more intelligent and useful than collections of lines that simply look like them. The days of depicting designs using simple lines, arcs, and circles would soon end; objects would become essential to increasingly complex and intelligent architectural models.

Development of Symmetrica commenced with the founding of Software Engineering and ultimately became the company’s software cornerstone. The business plan for Software Engineering was to develop a core object-oriented CAD component and to embark on development of CAD applications. We achieved that goal.

Many members of the Software Engineering team crossed paths throughout long and distinguished programming careers. Mutual respect for one-another’s talents brought us together at Software Engineering.
